Noted...

This is my first attempt at entering the blogosphere. Mostly I suppose this page will contain tidbits, poetry, swatches of awareness?, and, I'm sure, music references galore. Let me just say up front that I am very hesitant about this, but I guess we shall see what I see. Peace.

A post a day....

So I went a little blog-happy last night after a year+ being MIA and I decided on a new goal - a post a day.... Then I re-evaluated that ambition and came to the conclusion that it would be both unrealistic and overkill. Instead, I am going to try for weekly or perhaps bi-weekly postings, as the mood strikes me.

For today (and thus, the end until next week), a little photo essay:

Culture and Music in the Pine Barrens

Okay, so I'm going a little wild and crazy tonight, but I got a sudden burst of blog-spiration. I recently completed my first "real" sound project and aired it at Union Docs in Brooklyn, NY. It's a segment from a larger body of research that I am working on about the Pine Barrens in Southern New Jersey. Have a listen. Be surprised - I was.

Secrets in the Sandy Soil
(Thanks @SoundCloud for the upload space)

Oh yea, and a Happy Birthday to Bobby Z.

This man.

A really amazing sound documentary

I stumbled across this months ago and have just now thought to post it. It's a beautiful piece, and highly appropriate, I think, for our times. Makes me a bit more than nostalgic for that second line and purple portable phone that I just had to have back in the 90's? Okay, okay... maybe it was 2000, but still a world away. In any event, take a listen.
